We visited our partner farms in Idukki, Kerala during the cardamom harvest season. Here's what we saw, and why good cardamom takes 3 years to grow.

Cardamom may look small, but it takes a long cycle to produce the aromatic capsules that reach your kitchen. On a farm in Idukki, we observed how shade, rainfall, and manual harvesting contribute to the final flavour profile. The timing is everything: a few days too early or late changes both aroma and steadiness.

Small-holder farmers carefully sort, dry, and grade the capsules to preserve their natural oils. It is a reminder that the best spices are never just a commodity โ€” they are the outcome of labour, climate, and precise skill.

This is one reason why traceable sourcing matters. When a farm can be linked to the final pack, the quality control and the relationship between farmer and consumer become far more meaningful.
